Dallas Awards Criteria & Recognition Procedures

2013 - 2014

EFFORT HONOR ROLL

·         For Grade 4, Grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 7 students
·         Student needs to receive “All G’s” under the work habits section to qualify
  • One certificate will be given for each term, with an overall recognition given at the yearend assembly
  • Students will be recognized in each of the classrooms

Classroom based awards certificates:

These awards (the certificates) will be given out by the 3 classroom teachers, with a “stand up” recognition at the end of year assembly.

 

1. Citizenship  * TROPHY & KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATE

·         Top student in each of the Grade 6/7 classes
·         Shows leadership and initiative in the classroom
  • Socially responsible in the classroom
  • Encourages others in and out of the classroom
  • Demonstrates consistent respect towards others in and out of the classroom

2. Creative Writing  * TROPHY & KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATE

·         Top student in each of the Grade 6/7 classes
·         Shows a real interest in writing and the process involved
  • Completes writing assignments enthusiastically with developing skill
  • Participated in Young Author’s Conference and/or other contests (not necessarily chosen)

3. Performing Arts   * TROPHY & KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATE

·         Top student in each of the Grade 6/7 classes
·         Excellence in several Fine Arts areas (drama, music, dance)
  • Participated in Young Artists’ Conference (not necessarily chosen)
  • Based on the current year’s performance

4. Sportsmanship  * NO TROPHY  & KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATE

·         Top student in each of the Grade 6/7 classes
·         Strong team player
  • Supportive of team mates and participates well in physical activities
  • Shows good sports etiquette and is positive, win or lose

5. Mathematics  TROPHY & KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATE

·         Top student in each of the Grade 6/7 classes
·         Shows excellence in Math (classroom activities and/or math competitions)
  • Makes numerical connections
  • Uses Math strategies to solve situational or real life problems

6. Academic  TROPHY & KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATE

·         Top student in each of the Grade 6/7 classes
·         Showed academic excellence throughout the year
  • Excellent report card grades 

 

Whole School Awards 

These awards will mostly focus on our grade 6/7 students and only go towards younger students if there isn’t a strong representative from grade 6 or 7. These awards will be handed out at the yearend assembly and have a trophy (permanent at the school) attached.
 

1. Donna Walsh Award (Overall Outstanding Achievement)   TROPHY & KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATE

·         A good model student to other students (of all grades)
  • Academic excellence throughout the year
  • Excellence and leadership in Fine Arts, Athletics, Creative Writing, Service, Math and 2 other subject areas

2. Mike Weatherhead Award (Most Improved Student)  TROPHY & KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATE

·         Outstanding work ethic
  • Student who always tries their best in academic and non-academic courses
  • Well-rounded student

3. Service to the School  TROPHY & KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATE

·         Service to the ENTIRE  school

  • Offers to help, gives encouragement to others and is socially responsible
  • Is responsible in handling tasks or assigned requests
  • Takes the initiative to create school-wide projects or ideas
  • Follows through on the projects or ideas
  • Shows leadership and initiative
  • Demonstrates consistent respect towards others

4. Athletics (Male and Female)   TROPHY & KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATE

·         Excellence in team sports and individual track athletic events
  • Displays leadership in team and school events
  • Shows consistent and outstanding sport’s etiquette
  • Accepts feedback for athletic improvement
  • Participation in at least 4 sports will be a consideration
